Yawn.
Every morning this woman on a Vespa passes me looking very stylish on her way to work. I can’t help but wonder- aren’t her legs bored?

As a Vespa owner and someone just getting into cycling, I can tell you that riding a Vespa isn’t boring at all. 🙂 It’s fun and exhilarating and takes up a lot less space on the road, and is better for the environment than driving a car. It also can be surprisingly utilitarian. When I lived in a warmer climate and my car at the time was an unreliable pile of crap, I rode the Vespa daily, even doing my shopping on it. I moved back to the midwest and my Vespa has suffered for it, I don’t feel where I live now is as motorcycle friendly (it technically is a motorcycle, and can get up to 70-80 mph depending on the model). In fact within the first few months of riding up here, some moron rear ended me. I’m starting to bike more because I also enjoy that, but I don’t think either the bike or the Vespa could ever replace each other.
Cyclists and scooterists have similar issues and ideals – I think the two communities should embrace each other. In some respects, I find it easier to identify with cyclists than I do with motorcyclists. We tend to get treated with disdain by people with “real” motorcycles. Scooters, Vespas in particular, were designed to be people-friendly and a mode of transportation you could use in your work clothes. As I am more into cycling for its lifestyle benefits and to get around town, rather than aggressive road cycling, both methods of transportation are appealing to me.
I guess this is a rather long-winded way of me saying, “Hey, don’t diss the vespa riders out there, we are nice people too!” 🙂
YEAH FUCK OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORTATION WHAT KIND OF BASTARDS NEED TO WALK OR USE TRAINS I’M GONNA BIKE ACROSS THE ATLANTIC
Mopeds, Motorcycles, Vespas, I don’t care what you are talking about. As long as it has 2 wheels and a motor, all they are to me is people who want to be cyclist but are too much of a wussy to actually work for their speed so they depend on a motor to doit for them.
I wonder why people are so in love with scooters? You gotta buy gas but a good meal keeps your bike going 🙂
